In 2018, the UFC celebrated its 25-year anniversary with a series of documentary shorts, each telling the story from a year in the company’s history. The series was aptly named “25 Years In Short,” and I had the opportunity to direct a documentary that represented the year 2017 - the year superstar Conor McGregor crossed over into boxing to face one of the sport’s legends, Floyd Mayweather Jr.
In addition to a host of news clips covering the build-up to the fight, the film is narrated by interview sound from boxing & MMA pundits, interwoven with archival dialogue from McGregor & Mayweather, then scored entirely with original music. I’ve worked with McGregor numerous times over the years and produced hours of content about his story, but this was probably my favorite experience showcasing the Irish superstar, which was nominated for an Emmy Award as part of the “25 Years In Short” series.
